Informative note – RASFF monitoring

QualimaC's control activity, which includes legislated and non-legislated parameters, is complemented by a specific surveillance based on the daily monitoring of the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF), which reports all non-conformities registered anywhere in the European Union.

This rapid alert system for food and feed of the European Commission was born from the publication of Regulation 178/2002 on food safety and aims to put into operation a network for the exchange of information resulting from controls carried out by the competent authorities. The RASFF allows to guide the sectorial control and increase the surveillance on those items of similar characteristics to those in which a non-conformity has been detected at European level, since they can also reach the main ports of the Mediterranean Sea or enter the food chain through land points of supply.
